C.1870, E. Howard and Co., No. 26 Watch Clock (Watchman's clock) 8-day timepiece.
Anonymous (not verified)
23 October 2024
This was a clock designed to insure that a watchman was not delinquent in his duties when on nigHeight watch in a factory or a public building. The black walnut case is in very good condition, having been refinished. There is a little damage to back edge of the case on the rigHeight side. The top glass, hands and dial are original. The heavy iron dial has a little paint loss at the mounting screws. The movement is properly signed. There is evidence that the clock originally had a bracket on the bottom. The unfortunate part is the recording device that would be visible in the bottom glass is gone (does not affect the accuracy of the timepiece movement) Height 54Ó $850-$950
