C.1894, Ansonia Clock Co., "Pizarro and Cortez", 8-day time and strike, double figure mantel clock.

The figures and tower were hand painted maybe 50 years ago and paint is flaking off. Some of the original bronze finish looks to be intact underneath; most importantly there are no apparent breaks nor losses to the figures. The black enameled base is original, with some chips. The porcelain dial is perfect as well as the beveled crystal. The movement is properly signed. Would be $2000 if original finish. This model sold for around $60 in 1894 (compare to $4.50 for a walnut shelf clock). That was a great deal of money. Height 20.50Ó $1,000-$1,200
