C.1790, Austrian, Striking Bracket Clock with alarm. This is a very large and imposing clock that has met with a bit of restoration over the years. First off it does retain its original crown/ verge movement (less silk pendulum-replacements available). The case has lost its feet and finials, but most of the brass and ormolu trim is intact; top finial totally inappropriate, some holes filled and black re-newed; front glass cracked. Best part of the clock is the multi piece brass dial, which has Father Time in full relief at the bottom, arms outstretched holding the chapter ring; he has an hour glass to the right, and at his feet a globe and compass surrounded by signs of the Zodiac, musical instruments and a female head, all with original brigHeight gilding. Below the 12 is a faux pendulum aperture; to the left, the alarm arbor. This is a one day clock, and we are offering a wide range in the estimate to reflect its potential. Height 33Ó $1,200-$2,200
