Fine gilt bronze and enamel, eight day-going, half hour-striking carriage clock in original leather fitted box. E. Maurice Co., Paris, made for the Chinese market, circa 1890.

C. Gilt bronze, "Empire", the top, columns and bottom panels decorated with white, red, black and blue champleve enamel foliage, glazed on four sides and top, the right and left sides with gilded pierced and engraved panels behind the glass with foliage and floral decoration. D. Silver with round cartouches for Arabic numerals, applied gilt rosette inside, outside with gilt panel pierced and engraved with flowers and leaves. Blued steel "spade" hands. M. Brass rectangular with going barrels both on the going and the striking trains, platform escapement with lateral lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, blued steel flat balance spring. Striking and repeating on gongs with button on the top. Stamped E.M. & Co on the movement. Dim. 17 x 11 x 10 cm., excluding the handle.
