Cartier, France, circa 1920. Fine and very rare agate gold and gilt sapphire-set eight day-going double-train hour and half-hour striking desk clock. C. Square with cabochon sapphire-set molded corners, gilt bezel forming the dial, typical Cartier "double loop" easel, "can"-type movement housing. D. Made on the gilt bezel, blue champleve Roman numerals separated by cabochon sapphires, gold outer rim, center engine-turned in a sunburst pattern. Diamond-set hands. M. 59 mm., nickel, "fausses-cotes" decoration, 15 jewels, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, Breguet balance spring, striking on two-coil gong.Signed on dial, numbered on the easel, edge of the bezel stamped with French guarantee mark.Dim. 10 x 10 cm.
