BLACK FOREST ORGAN CLOCK, Circa 1830 Maker: JACOB GANTER, KAPPEL, GERMANY
A very rare floor standing organ clock, playing 8 tunes on 38 wooden pipes. It is an eight day clock striking the hours on a cast bell. The movement has a brass anchor escapement and is housed in a solid mahogany case, as is the striking mechanism and the tune barrel. The movement runs well and the tunes are cheery and clear. These tunes are listed in german writing on old paper just inside a little door in the hood, with the signature "Jacob Ganter, Kappel" at the bottom. The pine case is original black ebonized patina with brass ornamental decoration. The dial is wooden with gilt decor. Hands are brass. This is a magnificant collectors clock in very good condition. Height: 96.5 inches (243cm) Width 21 inches (53.5cm)-at waist of clock Depth 12.25 inches (31cm)-at waist of clock
