Antique dutch stoelklok in original as found condition. It has a five brass pillar movement having brass gearing. The clock strikes the hours on a large cast bell. The alarm dial functions well. Brass hands, alarm dial, and dutch chapter ring. Painted curvacious mermaids flank either side of the backboard and the lower stand of the case has painted flowers with striping. Ornamentation around the dial depicts birds and foliage, lions and a sheild. Atop the canopy are more lions, animals figures and an urn. Below the dial is the cherub face with wings The dial has the dutch-style chapter ring and above it a painting of a quiet dutch country scene. It is written that these scenes may have been painted over many times. All weights are old and give the clock special character.
