American Welch Spring and Co. round top wall clock - Circa 1868
Eight day rosewood wall clock, called the Round Top -made by the Welch Spring and Co., Forestville Connecticut dated 1868. In 1868 Welch, Spring and Co. was organized separately but combined with E.N. Welch Mfg.,Co in 1884. Later in 1903 it became The Sessions Clock Co. The brass movement has a unique club-tooth escapement and strikes the hours on a gong. - Welch Clock Co. name is stamped on the movement and dated. The hands are so-called rabbit ears which are early. The inner label is a little tattered with age but retains good identification of the clock. The door and painted tablet are most original and in perfect condition. The glass is puttied-in and the design on front is gold gilt.
