May have even been made earlier. The movement is 8 day, bell strike, of the early type and easily identified by the "X" cross band on both the front and back plates. Full black and gold label on the back, identifying the clock as "Patti.V.P.", with the "V.P." meaning visible pendulum.18 1/2 inch polished black walnut case, 3 original glasses, good gold band on the front glass, correct Welch, glass center, pendulum. Hands, dial, finials, all original. The case was lightly cleaned, no attempt make to hide any bruises or veneer chips, hardly anything to hide anyway. The inside of the case is covered with black paper. A small piece of the paper is missing behind the pendulum The bare wood was covered with black paint so you can hardly notice the piece torn. Ly-Welch, pages 154-155. The last price guide, 1992, 10 years ago, listed this clock at $1,000. This clock last sold for $1400.
