Intricate cast metal frame, with excellent gilt. Design of vines, leaves, flowers, and 2 lovely female figures, one reclining on top, one standing at the bottom. The clock is signed in 2 places, underneath the base and on the back below the dial. I canÕt read either one without removing the finish. The milk glass dial supports a small 30 hour, tic-tac type movement, which is wound thru the dial with a small pocket watch key. It is not a pocket watch movement as it has a small permanent pendulum. The clock is running by the way, and you can hardly get it to stop. There is a candle sconce on the back, also gilded, that swivels side to side. For the benefit of you collectors born after the advent of electricity, the candle burns behind the clock, lighting the dial, allowing you to tell the time, all night if all goes well.
