Signed on the 8 day movement also is "Made in France". This has the usual round movement but strikes half hours on a hanging cathedral gong rather thanthe usual bell. The gong sound is certainly more pleasing than the bell ringing, to most people. The clock runs great. The brass case has several ornaments, all with gold gilt, particularly the 4 unusual feet that have Rams hooves, not toes; and the great urn on top, machine etched and carved all over. Paintedporcelain dial has a garland of flowers, blue painted numerals and a blueminute ring. Super gold hands that the French used so well on their clocks. 4 beveled glasses, the usual one corner chip, and a live mercury pendulum. This good looking case closely resembles some of the Ansonia cases. It hasnot been cleaned or polished in some time and would greatly benefit fromsome attention.
