Waltham/Durfee Hall Clock or Waltham Clock Co., Waltham, Mass. Hall Clock, ca 1905-1922.

The beautifully shaped case is 96", or 8 feet tall. The Waltham clocks were made of solid mahogany, richly carved and highly finished. Full columns on the hood, fluted 1/2 columns in the center, heavy beveled glasses in the door and both sides. On the sides of the hoodis scroll work with cloth covering. Both doors are key lock. The No. 51 ninetube movement chimes on the quarters and strikes the hour, playing the Westminsteror Whittington chime on the beautifully toned Walter Durfee tubes. The tubesare signed by the, "Walter Durfee Corp." The dial is one of WalthamÕsbest, with a moon dial in the arch which gives the right phase of the moon.The dial is made of brass, heavy gold plated, with raised silvered hour ringupon which Arabic figures are applied. The figures are heavily gold plated.The two small circles at the top and the moon arch are also raised and silvered.The indicator on the left is strike-silent, and on the right, Westminster-Whittington.There is a chime-silent lever beside the 3.
