Seth Thomas "Marble No. 144" ca 1886.

This is a rarity, imported marble case with open escapement on the dial. IsnÕt this about the only clock Seth Thomas sold that had open escapement? Since the cases were imported isnÕt it possible the round movement with outside count wheel, and open escapement, were put in the case in France? If Seth had made them in Thomaston as they supposedly did their round movements for the Seth Thomas and Sons clocks, they would have put the open escape movement in their SethThomas and Sons clocks. The movement is 8 day, half hour strike on cathedralbell, running. Two piece porcelain dial has some faint hairlines in the outerdial ring. Marble case is etched with gold filling, three nice pieces ofmarble inlay on the front. Really a super nice clock. Ly-Seth Thomas No. 144.
