Looking face on, the rosewood veneer case is beautiful; the graining in the wood is astounding. Looking closer at the 32" case we find a few ticks on the corners, nothing really major and shouldnÕt require an expert to do the needed repairs. The gold on the capitals and bases is rather dull and there is one chip in the left base. Both glasses are original and showing 10 percent or less paint loss. IfI were going to keep the clock I would back both glasses with blue paint. The old dial is also original and also has about 10 percent paint loss. DoesnÕt lookthat bad to me, but your call on a dial repaint. Good signed brass movement strikes a coil gong, running very well, but I would check the cords before extensive use. For some reason the left 1/3 of the label has evaporated. Enough is there to know all about the clock. For instance it is a Plymouth Hollow label, which is why I put the year made as1863, because the town name was changed to Thomaston in 1865. The old weights are not a match, but pendulum and key are old. Ly-Seth Thomas No. 986.
