Mr. Welch being a world traveler named many of his clocks with foreign names, hence "Italian". Full labels everywhere. A complete Welch, Spring label inside, a complete B.B.Lewis Calendar label over the lower calendar movement. Both dials, all hands, glasses, door latches, all original. We will call the case rosewood veneer as the grain doesnÕt match my walnut or mahogany samples. Great use of the grain by the case maker. The columns have always been dark like the case, even though the catalogs show gold columns. The case is just under 20 inches high. 8 day movement runs very strong and strikes hours on a wire gong, early type. This is an awfully good example of the early Welch, Spring calendar clocks. Ly-Calendar No. 847.
