The case style is Altdeutch revival, and is often called "porthole". This case is elaborately carved andhas brass ornaments applied sparingly, in fact only 7 pieces strategically placed. Movement is properly signed by GB, serial number No. 508047 which dates the clock 1886. All brass including weights, pendulum, dial ring, and applied pieces, cleaned and shining. The clock has been professionally cleaned, repaired where necessary, and nice enough to hang in any home. Not for the true collector who demands originality. The headpiece is old, but didnÕt come with this case, and parts of the base are not original, but as good as any original I see.Excellent 2 piece porcelain dial, hands, beat scale.
