Waterbury Clock Co., "Regulator No. 54", ca 1915.
This is a very large case made with quartered oak; finish is a medium shade, 57 inches tall. Refinished several years ago, loose wood glued in place, including the finials, and is now in good to excellent condition. There are applied pieces top and bottom, large turned finials, etched all over the case. Movement is 8 day, 2 weights, time only, dead beat escapement, retaining power, solid polished movement frames. The label is very good; side key lock is missing, held with a hook and eye. Original dial with a subsidiary seconds dial is painted on a metal pan, no wear to speak of except in the lower edges where the fingers rub when turning the hands. Correct and original brass bob, weights, dial ring, porcelain beat scale, and hands. Ly-Waterbury No. 570.
