C.1850, Elisha Manross, Bristol, Conn an unusual oversize false hollow column, 8-day.
Anonymous (not verified)
23 October 2024
Mahogany columns and cornice style case. A few veneer chips. Good dial and label. This Manross movement has the plate cut out riveted to the base of the movement. Because the weights drop in a narrow channel beside the movement, they need to be quite narrow. The clock is currently using 2 lead banjo weights, but the originals would have been cast iron. This very clock is pictured in Tran Duy Lu's American Clocks, Vol 3, page 102, figure 253. Note the original mirror got broken, and the pieces are taped in place for the foto. Height 33.25 inches
