The mahogany veneer case was refinished maybe 50 years ago and has a nice mellow color. There are some small chips and cracks in the veneer. The original dial was painted, and this one has a brown paper over-paste, including the seconds bit with 1878 patent info. This clock uses a double spring 8-day lever movement. The BEST part of this clock is the superb rear label that is worthy of framing. It is complete with Hotckiss tower clock info, and an over-stamp with case patent info dated April 16, 1878. Height 13 inches
