C.1815, Joshua Wilder, Hingham, Mass, Dwarf 8-day striking tall case in generally good condition.
This clock is consigned by an anonymous lady in Hingham, and it has been in Hingham all of its life. The integrity of the case is excellent, except for the loss of the original red wash finish, and its current coat of varathane. The movement, dial, bell, hands, pendulum and seatboard are all original. The dial has experienced some flaking and has been shellacked over to stabilize the flaking; it deserves a trip to the Dial House for repair only (not repainting); the signature is excellent, except for a chip between his first and last names. Lead weights are original. Also with an old inside label from L. A. Douglas, dealer in Antique Clocs and Bric-a-brac, Hingham, Mass. Although there are several Wilder clocks pictured in various books, this is most similar to figure 105 in Palmer's Book of American Clocks. Height 51 inches
