The walnut case has been refinished with the Formby's system and looks pretty good. When the clock was shipped to the last owner, it arrived with the pieces to the porcelain dial in the bottom of the case and he carefully glued them back in place (looks Ok, and at least it's original). We see firms in the Mart and in Clock's Magazine that refinish porcelain dials if you want to go that far. The center section of the case is held to the base with straps in the rear which are easily removed if you choose. The pendulum has a couple of small dings but is overall very good. The movement is clean and in good running order. We have sold two of these Gilberts in the last 18 months, one for $17,500 plus and one in comparable condition to this for $12,200 plus.
