and with original silvered Art Nouveau appliquandeacutes on the dial, weights and pendulum. We unscrewed the mounting bracket to check for odd holes, and the movement is original to the case; the upper gong bracket has a second set of holes the same distance apart, indicating it was moved in the case. The veneer has some chips at the top of the door, and some bubbles where the base wood has dried a bit, but overall it presents itself in very good condition. Note the double tier base with fancy carving. This is a rod strike clock with melodious tone. The hour rod protrudes into the case a bit, interfering with the pendulum and will need to be bent backwards (it may bend OK, or it may break off, depending on your luck). The well made Austrian movement was cleaned around 1990 and restrung with gut, which has a couple of distress points, and may need replacing. Has old case stabilizers and porcelain beat scale. The movement ticks and raises the hammers in proper sequence. Height 53 inches
