23 October 2024
given as a presentation piece in 1916 in appreciation of the "House of Eidlets", and with the names of 32 persons who contributed to the donation. The engraved brass plaque with above info is inside the bottom of the case; 4 holes in front panel where it mounted. Strikes the hours on a large bell. Needs a little TLC, a new bell standard, a pendulum tie down screw, and cleaning. The side frets fell out and have been secured with a newer piece of mahogany; case lacks 2 rear feet, and has a wood substitute; dial has 3 large chips. Again, all of these problems can be dealt with. Clock is in running order. See Brittens, Joseph Davie worked 1823-59 at 201 High Holborn, London. Height 17.5 inches
