C.1840, French gilt bronze and marble mantel clock with an Egyptian motif, 8-day time/strike silk suspension, in fair to good condition. The base marble is cracked and repaired and is chipped. The mottled yellow marble in the main part of the case is cracked and chipped. The top marble has a little roughness, but is otherwise good. The cast decorative elements have lost a fair amount of their original fire gilding. The gilt dial is very nice and the hands are original. The beveled door glass has a couple of tiny chips on the edges. The well made silk suspension movement is in good order. Still has some potential if you are handy with marble restoration. Height 15 inches
