It is far superior to any modern day pillar and scrolls we have seen. The fellow didn't cut corners; he used the best woods and veneers that were available and copied from an original. Where possible he used parts from early clocks such as, an early, clean, wood movement, a perfect old wood dial, period weights, iron bell, old hands, door lock and key, and a beautiful unsigned tablet, that we suspect is contemporary. He also put an old Sperry and Shaw label on the backboard, and put putty around both glasses, very professionally. The finials, rollers, and the case, are contemporary. It is 31" high to the finial tip. It may not be an 1820's clock, but sitting on your mantel it will look every bit as nice, and no one will know you didn't shell out $2000.
