This clock is their model No. 460, first used for spring movements. The case was made of the finest mahogany, dark brown finish, hand rubbed. The style is definitely Cathedral, notice the top of the bonnet and the three carved unusual finials, and other carvings on the bonnet. One finial has a leaf missing; I turned it to the back. There are three glasses in the bonnet. The lower door also has an arch top and the case has carved decorations top and bottom. The silver dial shows no wear but it has some goop on it which will surely clean off without hurting the silver. The movement is 8 day, two chimes, Westminster and Canterbury, striking on 6 rods each half hour. Factory numbers imprinted on the case in various places, are; "24", "460", and "868". The clock is #632 in Ly's "Longcase Clocks and Standing Regulators", shown in the electric model; the spring model was shown in the Company's trade catalogs up to 1927; and in the book, "Herschede Clocks", page 129, published by the American Clock & Watch Museum in 1991.
