Ever-Ready Safety Razor, advertising clock. This is the early rare model in an all metal case, 18" high, and 13" wide.
The movement is a double wind marine movement, 8 day time only. I chose not to remove the back of the case, not caring a whole lot if the old clock ran or not. I consider it a rare collectible, not an everyday running clock. I can not find a picture or reference of this model. Bernie Edwards's book on "Clock and Watch Advertising" shows the more recent model, but not the older metal clock. This model was distributed by the "American Safety Razor Corporation, Brooklyn, NY." The metal box holding the movement has imprinted on the metal back complete instructions for operating the clock, and this statement from the company: "IMPORTANT-READ CAREFULLY This clock is presented to you by the American Safety Razor Corporation, Brooklyn, N.Y., with the specific understanding that you agree to display it permanently and prominently in a window of your store. In accepting this clock you agree to keep it unobstructed and undefaced and in the event that it should deliberately become damaged you agree to replace it with a new clock obtainable from the American Safety Razor Corporation at a price of $20.00." .
