Eli Terry & Sons, Plymouth, Connecticut, C. 1831.

Thirty hour wood movement shelf clock, originally with carved splat and carved feet, stenciled quarter columns and probably pineapple finials. This case to be complete would need feet and finials. This is generally the way we find most transition cases. New chimney caps were made I am sure, because the old ones had holes for finials. The case is clean as a pin, restored several years ago with a new painting on the original glass. Still has original putty on both glasses. The quarter columns are too nice not to be replaced or redone. Carved splat is identical to the referenced clock below, and original. The wood dial is very nice, no problems at all. A lock is in place, but escutcheon is missing. The movement, dial, hands, weights, bell, and pendulum, all appear to be original. The full paper label is also identical to referenced clock. I hung the weights and pendulum and it ran just fine. The weight cords are new. There are round tin covers over the weight rollers on top. Reference: "Eli Terry and The Connecticut Shelf Clock", Second Edition Revised, by Kenneth Roberts and Snowden Taylor, several sections pertaining to Eli Terry & Sons. This clock, label, and movement, pictured on page 255.
