Very nice mahogany case, 22" high, still has the original finish with painted flowers, cupids on the sides, and other misc. paintings, from top to bottom, side to side, and even on the back. The top finial is painted to resemble a flower. Just below the finial in front, are initials in a flourishing freehand style. I can make out the letters, "E A", but wouldn't venture a guess if that was the artists initials, or the clock makers. There are some small, faint, edge dings, primarily on the back edges. Really not a major factor and the case overall is very nice. The paintings on the case and the dial have faded a little but should certainly not be a problem to anyone wanting an original clock. Large wood back door with a hand latch. The bowed glass over the dial and the painting on glass below the dial is all enclosed with a brass door frame. The original painting in the lower section of the door is cracked in the upper left corner, all still in place, and both glasses held with the original putty. The bowed 7.5" porcelain dial is unique with a center painting of cupids, and water fountain. There is a small chip at the edge that is not visible with the door closed. Good original hands, original pendulum marked, "Made in France", the same as marked on the movement. Round 8 day movement, strikes a large standing gong.
