This is a very unusual clock. I hope I can describe it adequately. It is signed "M. Winterhalder & Hofmeier" on the movement.
The English case is flame mahogany, large carved side wings and carved around the lower glass. The wood of the octagon top is about one inch thick and has a deep bevel, inside out. The bottom is rounded; there are doors on each side of the case to access the pendulum and movement. The 12" wood dial has been professionally repainted, looks real good. The early 8 day, bell strike movement is spring wound, brass gears in wood plates. Runs fine but should be serviced. The old bowed glass now with new putty covering the old, a job well done. Heavy cast brass bezel locks into place. For no other reason than looks, there is a large section of the inside backboard that is covered with designed paper. You can see the paper and pendulum thru the lower glass. Just an added touch. Like many early English clocks the top is attached to the body with 4 pegs.
