Gustav Becker open well wall clock.
Very nice 42" oak case, turnings and applied decorations galore. Original top, and original everything else. Pendulum hangs behind a glass which is part of a removable section that allows access to the pendulum. Top door opens to access the dial and movement. Excellent one piece porcelain dial ring, brass embossed center, brass outer dial with applied spandrels in the corners and on the arch top section of the dial. The brass pendulum has an embossed bust of a lovely lady. Also the beat scale is brass. The movement is 8 day, running well with a slow peaceful swing, striking the half hours and hours on a coil gong also slow and easy. There are wood splits in the upper door, minor but nonetheless mentioned. Every clock I have ever had with this type door construction has had wood splits. As you know, it is caused by wood drying over time. All old wood gets splits as it dries.
