Very imposing clock with a lot of Black Forest influence, notably the large deer head at the top, inverted game bird at the bottom, dogs head on the left side, fox head on the right side. The bird is carved wood, the deer, dog, and fox, are cast iron, everything else is carved wood which is typical for clocks made during this period. The Freres 8 day movement strikes half hours on a wire gong, and is running. Large 12 inch wood dial, with oversized cartouche numerals, brass hands. The barometer in the bottom is signed "Gishard", and is probably more contemporary than the rest of the clock. Old barometers that would fit this case are certainly available. Large brass bezel with glass over the dial, both perfect. Correct old French pendulum. It is typical for this type case to be very dark, which makes it very hard to photograph and to show detail of the various figures. Other that a broken and repaired deer antler, the wood carvings are near perfect, which is surprising because the clock is very heavy and it takes two people to carry or hang the clock. I believe this clock is worth over $2500, but because it won't photograph well it is hard to see the value unless you examine it personally.
