87" high quarater sawn 2 piece oak case, original finish in a walnut color. It is 27" wide at the top and the base of the top section. Full columns are fluted which doesn't photograph well, as light reflects in several directions. There is dentil molding around the top along with the various carved sections. Glass on the sides, 4 large bun feet, door to compartment in the base, both doors have key lock, with a key. The heavy brass solid plate movement runs 90 days with one large weight. Mounts to a brass mounting bracket and held with 4 large thumb screws. The dial, weight, pulley, and pendulum bob, all with fancy etchings that match. The silver hour ring on the dial has painted roman numerals, just inside the brass sash is a minute ring with Arabic numerals. The brass inner dial is the etched section, as is the inner section of the seconds dial. Etched into the dial is the date, "1888". The pendulum wood stick is original, as is the porcelain beat scale. This is no doubt one of the finest floor clocks we have ever had. My head said keep it, my bank account said move it on to another home.
