The large barometer dial is comprised of 8 porcelain cartouches on a wooden board. Each of the cartouches gives a different barometric reading, in French, "Tempete", "Cde Pluie", "Pluie ou Vt", etc. The bottom cartouche says, "Barometre Aneroide". The inner part of the dial is a pattern of carved leaves. There are spindles, an elaborately carved balcony, full columns, carved base, many turnings and applied wood shapes. The large bezel with bowed glass is 11". Excellent walnut case is 32" high, and immaculate. The front opens to access an empty box and the back of the barometer. There are several of these pictured in Roy Ehrhardt's, series of "Foreign Clocks", particularly Book 5.
