Obviously from the Black Forest area as the carvings are expertly done. Movement is signed only with a trademark and initials. The trademark books do not identify the maker but only say, "Trademark on Quail-Cuckoo clock". Another book says, "Cuckoo clock manufactured in Austria". This clock obviously isn't a cuckoo clock and the brass 8 day movement is not a cuckoo clock type movement. It is solid plate, trapezoidal, wheels between the plates, spring barrel outside the plates, stationary pendulum, running. The carved birds, urn, claw feet, unknown god, nuts, berries, and leaves, are mostly carved from one big piece of wood. The case is 22" high and 13.5" wide. Dial is cuckoo type as are the numerals. Overall in good condition.
