Jerome & Co. New Haven, Conn. shelf clock, C. 1870.
8 day, hourly striking on a coil gong. Full label on the back of the door, gives directions for regulating. 16.5" rosewood veneer case from appearances is very nice with the original finish. On close inspection you will see a strip on the top back edge that broke loose and was repaired, not professionally, but will satisfy most people. True to form Jerome used some different touches on the front; the six pieces of trim and the black and gold glass over the original zinc painted dial. Then the two round applied pieces with gold stars in the middle, that section painted black. The bottom glass is another great reverse painting, both glasses bordered with gold gilt. The bevel just above the base is also painted black. Good old clock, running very strong.
