Originally this was at least a 3 piece clock, the base, the middle section with the clock, and something on top, probably another carved piece of some kind. The clock section is a large, heavy piece of wood. Not several pieces glued together, but one piece. Note the large sea dragons around the dial. This section is 16" wide, 11.5" deep. The typical French dial has small porcelain cartouche numerals. The movement is bell strike with an outside count wheel. There is a glass back door and a sash identical to the front. Missing the minute hand, pendulum, and bell There is a label on the back with Austrian, German or Swiss names. The carved base is 18.5" wide, 12" deep. Carvings all around are birds. With the right piece on top this would be an extraordinary clock. You could use porcelain, glass, or wood.
