Birge & Fuller, Bristol, Conn. USA, stamped on the strap brass movement.

This small 8 day weight driven movement was a result of intentional reduction in the size of movements used in these big clocks, C. 1844. The side arm and one wheel were eliminated, as well as reducing the overall size of the movement. This new 8 day movement could be used in OG cases as well as the large empire style cases. Joseph Ives may have been responsible for the change. A lot of information about the case and movement is found in Ken Roberts books, "The Contributions of Joseph Ives to Connecticut Clock Technology, 1810-1862". This case was likely made by Jonathan Frost and may well have carried his label inside, or Birge and Fuller may have sold with their label. There is no label inside this case. The mahogany veneer case is outstanding and could be rated perfect were it not for the few nicks where it was bumped into something. It is 34.25" high. This old wood dial is smaller than the one above and may have been downsized at the same time as the movement. All the glasses are original and the painted tablets have retained a large percent of the paint. Both could be helped by rebacking or some other means. What I like most about this clock are the 6 turned ball feet. I have looked thru many books and can't find another example of 6 wood feet.
