C.1790-1800, English, A and I Thwaites, London, 3-fusee musical movement with center seconds, as found, incomplete.
Anonymous (not verified)
23 October 2024
Condition: the construction is of two separate movements (both with same pillar design and wheel work) siamesed together to afford hour striking followed by one of four tunes on 10 bells [2 bells are absent]. The pin drum is still in good condition, and all 3 trains can be coaxed to work, but need cleaning. The main platform has holes which suggest that it once stood atop 4 columns. The binnacle style cover must be removed carefully to avoid damage to the hands and dial. Makers stamp is on the bottom of the front of the musical movement. Porcelain dial = 5Ò (with hairlines), width of base, 10.5Ó This is part of a rare and unusual clock that would have commanded a very high price.
