E. Howard & Co. Boston, "No. 70" reissue c. 1970's
stamped on the movement. The large iron weight also has "70" on it. For what it is worth the brass key is signed, "E. Howard & Co.", and the case is stamped "50". This clock is one of the reissued clocks, ca early to mid 1970's, that are coming out of collectors storage rooms and being offered for sale. This collector like hundreds of others, bought several Howard reissued clocks and never took them out of the box. We will have at least 3 in this auction that have never been on the wall. The metal dial is signed just like the movement. This Regulator No. 70 is 8 day, one weight, timepiece. The mahogany case is about 32 inches high. This clock is perfect in most respects, but the pendulum tie down is completely missing. The holes were drilled at the factory, but it was never installed. I would suggest you give it some oil before you start running. Ly-American Clocks #428.
