Solid mahogany case is 35 inches high, 20 inches wide, with a steeple roof, scalloped trim below, applied carvings around the bezel, a tapered base with a locking and removable door to access the pendulum. Great flame designs in the wood. We rarely see these old clocks in mahogany, they are usually oak. Large locking side doors with perforated metal curtains. There are keys for all the locks. The case is dark, has not been refinished, and no repairs noticeable. As heavy as this clock is one would think it would have pulled a nail from the wall sometime in its history. The 8 day triple chain fusee movement has solid plates and a rack of 8 bells and hammers attached to the top. The bells play 8 notes the first quarter, 16 the second, etc., and strikes the hours on a huge iron gong. The 14 inch painted iron dial has quarter hour numerals in red, the others black. The bezel and glass are also very heavy and arranged so that you can't open the bezel without unlocking the side door to access the latch that holds the bezel. We could not find a signature on the movement or case. It was recently serviced and is running and striking properly.
