Reproduction Ansonia Clock Co. "Monark".
This contemporary clock is identical in looks and size (25 inches high) to the 1880 Ansonia Monark. The clock is not a one shot attempt by someone who got some tools for Christmas. A very good woodworker cut the pieces for this case and several others at the same time and numbered them. The decal on the glass is identical to those pictured in the catalogs, the fancy painted bezel is pure brass, cast from a very good mold, with the typical paper dial signed "A". The 8 day movement is new, signed "Japan", runs and strikes a coil gong. The pendulum may be the only thing old about the clock, it sure looks old. The clock sat around here a couple of months before I could get to it, and all the time I thought it was original. Excellent workmanship using very good materials. It would sure fool most people. The original is pictured in Ly-Ansonia #1780.
