Ansonia Clock Co., plush clock, "Florentine, No. 2", ca 1886.

Case covered in maroon velvet like many of the originals, however this plush is much too nice to have withstood over 100 years of handling. If recovered, some-one did a bang up job. The original painted scene is still on the artist's palette. All metal dial with open escape mechanism, original hands, and cast bezel with beveled glass. Numerals look to be highlighted. Typical of this collection the metal feet have no finish, stripped down to bare metal. Nickel plates on the 8 day movement, springs in barrels, half hour strike on a gong. The movement is signed but shows the address as New York, U.S.A. Ly-Ansonia #2413.
