The music is played by a battery operated tape player. 3 "AA" batteries are needed; the quartz clock is operated by 1 "AA" battery. 4 batteries are included. The object is 16 inches high. New in the box with purchase sticker, 159 dollars. One of many such items in the Texas clock shop we purchased last year.
