Birge & Fuller ogee clock, J. J. Beals & Co's Clock Establishment, Boston label, ca 1847-1848.
This information taken from the full backboard label found just under the detached fusee movement . Brass upper movement is signed, "Birge & Fuller, Bristol, Conn. U.S.A.". The movement would have been made in the1844-1848 time period. Fuller died Feb.1848 and Birge continued on his own until Feb. 1849 when he associated with Peck. During this one year he produced some small ogee cases, this being one. The mahogany veneer case is a tad under 21.5 inches high, 14 inches wide and 4.5 inches deep. If you are interested in this clock you must read the reference shown below. The fusee movement is 8 day, strikes a coil gong, and is running. The original dial is near perfect and the original tablet is 95% with some paint loss in the center. The case is original, untouched, some old varnish showing and some flaking, the veneer basically very good but brittle on the edges. This is an awfully good example of this very rare Birge clock.
