E. Howard tower clock, ca 1890.
Designed as a timepiece only to drive the hands to one dial only. The movement pictured is just under 15 inches high, fully restored to excellent condition. It has not been a running movement since restored. We have some heavy wire that has not been installed, nor has the 43 inch pendulum been attached, same with the huge weight. The movement is not signed but it is very evident when compared to figure #470, Ly-American, Volume 2, it is the same movement. Boston dealers who have owned the clock sold it as a Howard. The pictures show front and back and one side view of the movement. This clock was purchased years ago by a discriminating collector for considerably more than our minimum. Generally the old tower clocks sell privately, but the ones we know about have brought $3000 to .
