Condition: Other than normal wear and discoloration, this clock is in excellent condition. On stick clocks that tick at a constant rate, one adjusts the time scale to correlate to daylight hours, while on lantern clocks, the weights on the foliots are moved to change their rate, and you shift from "day foliot" to "night foliot" to adjust for the different time lapse needed. This is a well made example, from Japan; its stand is absent. The frame and vertical plates, as well as the arbors are steel; brass for some parts and also for the dial mask and sides. Well made with embossed covers and nicely engraved dial and alarm disc. Complete with weights and counter weights. Height 13 inches (33cm)
