C.1845, (attributed to) G. D. Hatch, No. Attleboro, MA, unsigned figure 8 banjo with side arms.
Condition: this clock is in excellent restored condition. The dial has been professionally re-painted, and the tablets redone as well. The original faux rosewood graining is in very good condition, with some restoration. The well made movement is on the early side, with Harrison style maintaining power and with a seconds hand (with original keystone having hole for seconds shaft). The brass shaft and hook in the old pendulum bob are replacements (properly done). The seat board / weight stop has been re-glued a couple of times, and the holes for attaching the movement have gotten a little worn over the years and have some wood bits in to help hold the screws. Iron weight is original. Lower door frame has been rotated about 50 degrees to get new bite for hinge. Suspension spring needs re-newing. For a related model, see Paul Foleys book on Willard's Patent Timepieces, page 175, also with an old sticker from Hagens Antiques in Benecia Calif, before Orville Hagen moved to Bergen Park, Colorado in the 1960s. Height 36.5 inches
