Condition: Ebony and ebony veneered case is in nice condition with some veneer loss on the flat area where the case meets the base. The original gilt pillar caps and bases have turned dark and will need to be cleaned. Silvered dial is tarnished a little with some wear to the numbers. Hands are original. The movement has extra holes on one side for gearing that performed some function that is now lost. The movement originally had a knife-edge suspension, but is now fitted with spring suspension and a 19th century lyre pendulum. The top of the case is removable to gain access to the front glass panel that slides up for removal - winding and setting. Maker's name is deeply engraved into rear plate. Height 24.5 inches
