The gilding is original mercury gilding. The Parisian gilders at this time were at the height of their skill that has never been equalled. The movement has silk suspension and an external count wheel and is signed for the Raingo Freres. The clock case represents romantic love, evident in the billing doves and the hearts towards the centre. The putto at the right carries cupid's arrow whilst he at the left holds the flame of passion. At the top, the rejoicing putto holds fruit in either hand, an allegorical reference to the fruits of romance.
